Roy (Ed Helms) only wants one thing for Christmas-- a pet dog. His parents try to explain to him to be patient; his father (Nick Offerman) tells him that when he's older, he'll have to wait for a lot of things, while his mother (Pamela Adlon) tries to make up for it by cooking big meals for the holidays. But Roy, who peeks at his Christmas presents early and discovers no dog, decides he's going to go out into the world and find a canine companion once and for all to bring back with him. After stumbling across a dentist on the run (Nathan Lane) and his daughter, Annie (Leah Michelle), Roy finds himself on a cross country expedition. Now, this young, ambitious kid has to put his money where his mouth is and go out in the world to fend for himself and find the true meaning of Christmas in his pursuit for a dog.
